Community Partnerships

At Nikkari Elementary, we believe in fostering partnerships with community organizations to help improve the quality of life for our students. We partner with the following organizations:

Art Reach of Mid-Michigan

Our Art Reach Docent program provides volunteers to come into our classrooms to teach our students about artists, and the works of art they produced.

Junior Achievement

Our Junior Achievement volunteers teach our students about how business works, and helps to reinforce economic skills students learn in their Social Studies classes.

Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Gratiot County

Our In-School Mentoring program provides our students with trained mentors. These mentors meet with students at school once a week to be a "buddy" and help the student with their academic work.

St. Louis Police Department

We have an outstanding relationship with the St. Louis Police Department. Officers visit our classrooms to speak to students about how to get along with each other, and about the dangers of drugs, tobacco, and alcohol.

Gratiot County 4H

The Gratiot County 4H sponsors the JIFF program. JIFF stands for Jump Into Foods and Fitness. This after school program teaches our students about healthy food and fitness choices.

Gratiot County Community Foundation

The Gratiot County Community Foundation provides us with grant funds to provide food and clothing to families in need during the holiday season.
