The students in our after school woodworking program recently made and handed out 250 toys to give to children during the Christmas parade. There were several varieties of cars, trucks, trains and tractors. For the students, handing out toys was a way to help to give back to our local community. Phil Maxwell started the program as a way to share his love and knowledge of woodworking with others while teaching responsibility and skills, with a community minded focus. The Gratiot Community Foundation granted $6,610 to help purchase the woodworking equipment for the students. Log Cabin Lumber donates material and support also comes from Peter's Hardware in St. Louis. View the Morning Sun article.
